A Daily Ritual for Warmth, Comfort & Glow from Within
This isn’t just broth. It’s one of my daily rituals. Rich in protein, collagen, and minerals, this homemade bone broth is the base of many of my meals. Simmered low and slow with ginger, garlic, and lemon, it’s warming, soothing, and deeply satisfying.
Ingredients (Makes about 3 quarts)
2–3 lbs pasture-raised chicken bones or beef marrow bones
1 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar (helps extract minerals)
2-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
4 cloves garlic, smashed
Juice of ½ lemon (add at the end)
Optional additions:
1–2 carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 small onion, halved
Filtered water to cover
Sea salt or Baja Gold, to taste
Instructions
Place bones in a large stock pot or slow cooker. Add vinegar and let sit 30 minutes (this helps draw minerals from the bones).
Add ginger, garlic, and any optional aromatics (carrots, celery, onion). Pour in enough filtered water to fully cover the contents.
Bring to a gentle boil, then immediately reduce to a low simmer. Skim any foam that rises to the top in the first hour.
Cover and simmer:
Chicken bones: 12–18 hours
Beef bones: 18–24 hours (or longer for maximum richness)
Strain broth into a clean glass jar or container. Add lemon juice and salt to taste once slightly cooled.
Store in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze in silicone cubes for easy use.
How to Use It
Sip warm in the morning with added sea salt and lemon
